Today we saw the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The severity of the lean is quite shocking in real life. Actually, the whole area is very cool, with a huge cathedral, a domed chapel, and the campanile (tower) itself. The lawn area is really large and it is genuinely pleasant there. We elected not to climb the tower for €15 each, as it seemed like a waste of precious cash. It was better than I remember, perhaps because there were less people there this time around. We had a really nice pita wrap for lunch with some tomato, cheese and mince we made up. The souvenir stalls were pretty interesting and we saw some pretty cool (and kitsch) things, like leaning shot glasses and wine glasses, a selection of cute t-shirts etc. There was a really nice little bottle of grappa in the shape of the tower and on a lean, which was cool. The rest of Pisa is pretty small and we didn't spend much time there, but it is a really nice town. It has a medieval feel about it, but an Italian gothic as opposed to the 'regular' French gothic that is interesting for its difference.
The rest of the day was pretty uneventful, just doing a bit of wandering around. The only other point of note was the "efficient" Skype call that we made to Keeley's grandparents this morning, which was over in the time it took me to prep cereal and a cup of tea. We also tried some interesting coffee-flavoured yoghurt, which was surprisingly nice.
On the train to Venice tomorrow.
